"In 2013, I was walking to my office when I saw little children walking barefoot on the streets asking for alms. It was a turning point in my life. Since then,  I have been working on various social issues plaguing our society," shares Latika Wadhwa, founder of MaStyle Care. She was only 23 when she resolved to commit herself towards the community sector.

Latika Wadhwa spoke to SheThePeople.Tv about her venture, her entrepreneurial journey and her ambitions. Excerpts from the interview:

1. Tell us something about your educational background. Were you always inclined towards working in the community sector?

I completed my English Honors from Delhi University. I went on to do my Masters in English and Communication Studies. Being the president of the Debating Society of my college, I was always keen towards raising my voice against social causes. I have been a regular contributor for various magazines and public portals that aim to spread awareness on social issues. That's how my interest in the community sector grew.

2. What have been the most challenging moments in your journey? How did they help you grow?

As an entrepreneur, every day brings up new challenges. The passion to work towards the welfare of the less-privileged, however, keeps us going and acts as a driving force. During the initial days, our idea got mixed reviews. Some people genuinely supported us by arranging clothes and eatables for the less privileged but some behaved very arrogantly. The most difficult time in the journey was when some of my companions refused to support me because they thought that whatever I was doing was futile. My idea was belittled by many people. But I must say that my family supported me throughout.

This difficult journey taught me a number of lessons. I learnt that I am the only one who can push my limits and carve out my path to success.

In the course of 3 years,  the organization has conducted various online as well as offline campaigns pertaining to women empowerment, girl child education, environment, old age, blindness, autism, underprivileged kids etc. Some of the successful events were Chalk Walk Against Women Violence, Colorothon Delhi,Gift a Garden to Autistic Kids, Pop The Balloon, Birthday Away to 100 orphan girls, Elderly Birthday Party, Say No to Crackers on Diwali etc. Till now, we have been able to transform the lives of over 40,000 people.

Through the campaign Kisse Changemakers Ke, we covered more than 1,000 stories of changemakers across the country in order to help them with volunteers, resources as well as in outreaching and networking with the resources. Our campaign proves useful to change-makers who get a platform to connect with each other and expand their philanthropic initiatives.

We have  also started social media groups like Mompreneur Circle on Facebook that aim to connect women from all parts of country to collaborate, motivate and inspire the womenfolk. Our community group "NGOs in Delhi" is another initiative to help them with volunteers, donors and resources.

4. Which social issues, according to you, are in need of the maximum attention and why?

Violence inflicted on women is one pertinent issue that has constantly drawn our attention. Though there are a lot of organizations and voices that are speaking out against the evil, a lot of action is required to make the country safer for women.

There is another issue that I feel requires a lot of attention. There are a lot of women sacrificing their careers post motherhood due to lack of proper awareness, resources and mentors to guide them. Mompreneur Circle helps women return to work and start their second innings.

5. What is the one advice you would like to give to aspiring women entrepreneurs?

I would like to tell them that the mantra of achieving success lies in you.  You need to understand your power. Entrepreneurial journey is not easy. You might find yourself alone but you can encourage yourself to take one step forward towards your journey and the whole universe will align itself to give you whatever you desire.
