Lalitpur rape case survivor gets protection: The Uttar Pradesh police provided security to the 17-year-old girl in Lalitpur, after she filed an FIR against her father and named several leaders of political parties in an alleged rape case, on October 13.
The Lalitpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Nikhil Pathak said that the medical reports of the teen suggest that she was raped. After recording the girl's statement, under section 164, a team of five has been prepared to arrest the accused named.
The SP also said that the police have arrested the survivor's father, whom she had accused of raping her when she was in class 6. According to the minor, her father had also threatened to kill her mother if she alerted anyone about the incident. The father, who is now being interrogated, also stands accused of feeding sedatives to the teen and soliciting her to other men. Three other accused have also been arrested in connection with the case.
In the same statement, the survivor also recalled the first time she was taken to a hotel by her father while returning from school. She was fed sedative with snacks and sent to the hotel room. There she was left unconscious. The survivor alleged that a man came in and raped her, later she woke up with a stomach ache.
In the report lodged with the police, the survivor also said that along with her father and other accused, her uncles and cousins had allegedly raped her when she was visiting their place. The incident was hushed by her grandmother.
After the FIR was filed, a case against all 28 alleged accused was registered under sections 376 D, rape; 354, outraging modesty; 323, voluntarily causing hurt; 506, criminal intimidation, of the Indian Penal Code.
According to media reports, there was a huge political uproar yesterday after the FIR was filed. Many local BSP and SP leaders approached the authorities and submitted a memorandum claiming the allegations of the survivor against the local political leaders were false.
On October 12, the survivor, along with her mother, had registered an FIR against 28 people including her father and politicians from Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), as well as her relatives for alleged rape over years.
The survivor recalled the multiple incidents of rape in the FIR, in which she cited the involvement of SP District President Tilak Yadav, SP State President Rajesh Jain Jojhiya and BSP District President Deepak Ahirwar.
