The release date for the film Laal Singh Chaddha, starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan in lead roles, has been postponed to Christmas 2021. It was previously scheduled to hit the theatres on 25 December this year. It was recently reported that Khan left for Turkey to resume filming. What We Know
The film is supposed to be an official remake of the 1994 Hollywood blockbuster Forrest Gump. Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan are going to play husband-wife in the film, Laal Singh Chaddha and Maneela Chaddha respectively. The story will follow the life of Laal Singh Chaddha, who is a kind-hearted man with low intellect. It will show events in the Indian history from his perspective. Kareena’s character will be a parallel of Jenny Curran’s character from the film’s Hollywood counterpart. On Feb 14, Aamir Khan took to social media to officially reveal Kareena Kapoor Khan's look in the film. “#HappyValentinesDay Kareena. I wish I could romance you in every film... comes naturally to me, Love a (sic),” he wrote.

Earlier in an interview, Kareena Kapoor Khan also said that she had auditioned for her role in Laal Singh Chaddha, where she read two scenes with Aamir Khan. Kareena revealed that it was the first time in her career that she had auditioned for a role. Kareena has been in the news for recently speaking up on the issue of nepotism at We the Women Asia summit, saying "The audience has made us, nobody else has made us. The same people pointing fingers, they are only making these nepotistic stars. Aap jaa re ho na film dekhne? Mat jao (You're still watching these films. Don't go). Nobody has forced you. So I don’t understand it. I find this whole discussion is completely weird." Mixed with her earlier revelation about Laal Singh Chaddha being her first audition stint, the actress has been facing some backlash on social media.
