UK Police Arrests Man Suspected Of Killing BBC Journalist's Family

British police said they found the man suspected of killing three women, the wife and daughters of a well-known BBC radio commentator, near London in a brutal crossbow attack.

In a tragic incident, a British man killed three women after an alleged messy breakup. 26-year-old Kyle Clifford targetted three women and killed them using a crossbow. The deceased were the family members of BBC Racing radio commentator JohnHunt. 61-year-old Carol Hunt was his wife and Hannah, 28 and Louise, 25, were the couple's daughters. Reports suggest that Clifford was romantically involved Louise but they split up a week ago. The murder happened on July 9 in the house of Hunt family in Bushey, Hertfordshire, the UK.

The murder was termed shocking by police and the colleagues of John Hunt. The three women were murdered on their property and later were declared dead on the spot. Since then, the Hertfordshire police have been on an extensive manhunt and managed to trace down Clifford in the Hilly Fields area of Enfield on June 10. Clifford is believed to be a retired army officer after serving for a year. 

Police hunt down Clifford

Detective inspector Justine Jenkins from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit said: “Following extensive enquiries, the suspect has been located and nobody else is being sought in connection with the investigation at this time"

Earlier also the police suspected that Clifford was behind the crime. Chief Superintendent Jon Simpson said that the "horrific" attack was targeted and other than crossbow, more weapons might have been used.

After Clifford was located, his body was injured even though police didn't fire any shots at him. So Clifford was sent to the hospital for treatment. After the treatment, he is supposed to go to a major trauma centre. 

The police got several calls that were concerned about the three women. To keep the leads about the case private, the police urged anyone with any evidence to directly reach the police rather than posting on social media. Not only this, the police had set up an information portal where anyone with any lead can submit their evidence.

The possible reason behind the murder 

On investing, it was revealed that Louise was utterly disturbed by the breakup. She once rammed her car into a telegraph pole. Carol, Louise's mother has confided in a friend about her daughter's tumultuous breakup. Speaking BBC, Carol's friend said, " She mentioned that her daughter’s split with her boyfriend was messy. Carol didn’t go into specifics, but you could tell she was worried."

Tributes pour in

Loise was a dog groomer and Hannah was a beautician. According to neighbour Glyn Nicholas, 77, who has been living near Hunt's property for 50 years Hunt family was good and respected their privacy.

He told the media portal, “They were a private family, all very nice, a private family. They all did their own things. Louise started a business a couple of years ago, and it was a thriving business – we all took our dogs there to be groomed. A very close-knit family and they used to love the street.”

Louise's friend said that she was “always a positive person." He could not think of anything bad about her.

Moreover, John Hunt's colleagues have also lamented Hunt's tragedy. BBC Radio 5 Live has said that it will provide every support to the family. It also sent a note to John Hunt saying that the murder was devastating. 

UK’s Interior Minister Yvette Cooper also said that the murder was "truly shocking" She took to X and wrote, “The loss of three women’s lives in Bushey last night is truly shocking. My thoughts are with the family & friends of those who have been killed & with the community."
