Tripti Shankhdar, a 19-year-old Indian actress, has alleged that her father, Ram Ratan Shankhdhar, is forcibly trying to marry her off to a man of his choice and has threatened to kill her if she doesn’t comply with his choice. Shankhadar, who is currently seen in Ekta Kapoor's Kumkum Bhagya belongs to Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh. She has reportedly asked for UP Police protection claiming that her father, a real estate businessman, is posing threat to her life.

Recently, on Tuesday night, Shankhdar had released a video on her Instagram account in which she accused her father of trying to kill her. She said in the video that he pulled her hair, thrashed her and even tried to slit her wrist. He is forcing her to get married though Tripti is just 19-years-old and that too with a 28 years old man of his choice. She also added that till now just one of her movies have been released and her father is forcing her to return the money she borrowed from him before going to Mumbai to make a career in the entertainment industry.
In the video, Shankhdar's mother is also seen corroborating the torture of Ram Ratan Shnkhdar confirming that he beats her. She said, "Since we got married, he has been torturing me. He doesn't let me step out of the house neither does he allow anyone inside."

Shankhdhar approached the UP Police before but nothing worked out. And so she uploaded a video and sought help.
The actress has left the house in Bareilly with her mother and siblings. She uploaded another video confirming the same and adding that they have left the house by their own choice. Based on the allegations revealed through the video, the Barailley Police took action and has taken the father in custody. In a comment given to ANI, the SP confirmed the arrest adding, "Her father is in custody. Tripti is also present at the station. Appropriate action will be taken."
Apart from Kumkum Bhagya, Tripti Shankhdar has also worked in South Indian films.
Other Criminal Cases Lodged Against Fathers For Harassing The Daughters
Last month, Neeleswaram police had arrested a 50-year-old man for sexually harassing his 16-year-old daughter for the last two years. Along with the father, six more youth were booked under POSCO act for the minor’s sexual harassment. The girl had even undergone an abortion a few months ago after being impregnated by one of the harassers.
In May, a man from Madhya Pradesh reportedly raped his daughter in the presence of the mother who only helped him. He raped her twice in 16 days of COVID-19 lockdown. The 18-year-old girl was made to undergo this ordeal to punish her for having a love relationship with local youth. However, the girl was rescued by her own sister. When the police interrogated the accused parents, the father justified his deed by saying, “Things would be less difficult and painful after marriage once she gets prone to this."
A 20-year-old of Shantinagar village in Telangana was killed by her parents for having a relationship with a lower caste man. Reportedly, the woman, who belonged to an upper caste, was pregnant. When her parents got to know about it, they forced her to undergo an abortion. But the woman refused. Consequently, her parents locked her up in a room and strangled her to death using bedsheets and pillows.
