A 21-year-old woman from Shivpuri in Madhya Pradesh, who was sent to Kota, Rajasthan to prepare for the medical competitive entrance exams NEET staged her own kidnapping along with her two male friends to extort money from her parents. She demanded a ransom of Rs 30 lakh to travel abroad along with a friend.
The girl identified as Kavya Dhakad, a NEET aspirant reportedly travelled to Kota along with her mother who left her in a hostel to prepare for her exams. However, the girl just spent three days in the hostel before travelling to Indore, MP to fake her kidnap and also duped her parents into attending coaching classes, sending them photographs when she was in Indore, Madhya Pradesh living with two friends.

The conspiracy was busted On March 18, when the father of the girl, Raghuveer Dhakad approached the Kota police alleging his daughter was kidnapped, presenting photographs and WhatsApp chats of alleged kidnappers demanding a hefty ransom of Rs 30 lakhs for his daughter.
As the Kota police probed into the matter, it was discovered the girl who was accompanied by her mother to Kota to prepare for the NEET exams just lived in the hostel three days after her mother left. She travelled to Indore with a friend while she kept her parents in dark by even sending fake photographs of her attending coaching classes in Kota.
The police traced the alleged kidnapped girl is in Indore living with her two friends one of whom also wanted to travel abroad. It was then unfolded that the girl and her friend wanted to flee abroad but did not have enough money to carry out the trip, hence they mapped out her fake kidnapping plan to seek ransom to fund their trip abroad.
The girl even got her fake kidnapping pictures with her hands and legs tied with ropes and her mouth tied with a cloth to send to her parents to make her kidnapping more believable at a common friend's apartment and the original phone numbers of all three friends were switched off.
The police have now urged the woman and her three friends to report to their nearby police station in Indore and Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma asked for the safe return of the girl.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of rash decisions and the strain they can place on families and law enforcement.
