Khushbu Sundar criticises BJP leader for his obscene comments on Kanimozhi: Tamil Nadu based politician Khushbu Sundar, who resigned from the Congress party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) late last year, has on Friday condemned a member of the party for passing derogatory remarks on women. In a tweet, V Gopikrishnan, who is an Executive Member of Tamil Nadu BJP and in-charge of the North Chennai Parliamentary constituency, made an obscene comment against DMK women’s wing leader MK Kanimozhi.
Replying to a query on permission to enter a temple’s sanctum sanctorum, Gopikrishnan in a tweet on Friday, asked Kanimozhi if the sanctum sanctorum was like her bedroom, to be open for anybody to enter. This "derogatory" comment landed him in trouble as social media started slamming the politician for speaking ill of women. Khushbu Sundar too lashed out at him saying, "Irrespective of the party or an individual, a degrading, disrespectful comment about a woman should be condemned."
Irrespective of the party, or an individual, a degrading, disrespectful comment about a woman should be condemned. @KanimozhiDMK is a wife, a daughter, a woman and a parliamentarian elected by the people. She deserves respect and that should be given to her at every give point.🙏

Actor-turned-politician Sundar also added that Kanimozhi is "a wife, a daughter, a woman and a parliamentarian elected by the people. She deserves respect and that should be given to her at every give point."
Kanimozhi said in a statement on Friday that women are not safe in Tamil Nadu. “Where is the protection for women in the State,” she asked citing the Pollachi sexual abuse and other sexual assault cases against women.
Following the social media outrage, Gopikrishnan locked his Twitter profile.
