Rani Rampal, Indian women's hockey team captain says that the Khelo India University Games will take sports to another level. Khelo India University Games will give a platform to fresh talent to showcase their skills. She told the Times of India, "I firmly believe that the Khelo India University Games is a great initiative by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports." She further said, "They (the ministry) first started the Khelo India Youth Games and now the Khelo India Universities Games, which is really amazing when you look from the global perspective."

About Khelo India University Games
The government of India decided to conduct Khelo India University Games after the success of the Khelo India Youth Games. The first edition of the Khelo India University Games will take place in Odisha from February 22 to March 1, 2020. Veerjeet Kaur won a gold medal at the Khelo India Youth Games (49 kg category) in Guwahati. She told Pragativadi, "The Khelo India University Games is a national tournament so it’s a big tournament for us." She further said, "The university has provided us with a travel allowance for the tournament." She also said "I am looking forward to taking part in another Khelo India competition. It should be another good experience for us."
More than 4,000 athletes from various universities across India will take part in the games. The athletes will take part in various disciplines like archery, athletics, boxing, fencing, judo, swimming, weightlifting, wrestling, badminton, basketball, football, hockey, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, rugby, and kabaddi.
