11 Women Pool In For Rs 250 Lottery Ticket, Win 10 Crore Jackpot

11 women civic-body workers in Kerela won a bumper lottery of 10 crore rupees after they clubbed together a 250 rupees lottery ticket. 

This was the fourth time the group purchased lottery tickets. The women had earlier won a prize of one thousand rupees in an Onam bumper. These women coming together in solidarity to pool in for the hope of winning showcases their friendship and empathy for each other. 

Kerala women win 10 crore Lottery

All the eleven women who work as sanitation workers in the municipality of Kerela bagged the 10-crore jackpot in the 2023 Monsoon Bumper Lottery held by the state government. The women are municipality workers of Parappanangadi in the Malappuram district of Kerela. They are members of Haritha Karma Sena, a green force of the state for the Kudumbashree Mission which engages its members in door-to-door collection of all kinds of non-biodegradable wastes and segregating them before sending them for processing. 

As the women could not afford to buy lottery tickets separately, they decided to contribute 25 rupees. The lottery had multiple prizes of Rs 10 lakhs, Rs 5 Lakhs, Rs 3 Lakhs, and Rs 1 Lakhs, but their outshined in their fourth attempt and they ended up taking away this huge amount. 

The women were busy with their everyday chores of plastic segregation when the news broke out to them. A woman amongst them all, Radha (49) who chose to buy the lottery ticket and also picked up the ticket through an agent said she couldn't believe it and was in shock. She shared that they checked with multiple people to make sure they actually won the lucky draw and landed the bumper jackpot. 

These women also talked about how this lottery jackpot has come to them at the right time as they all come from underprivileged backgrounds with lots of debt and liabilities. They hoped this money would give them relief as the amount will soon be deposited in one of the members ' bank accounts after the reduction of taxes.
