A school teacher from Kerala was arrested following a minor girl's complaint that he flashed her during a bus journey on November 15. The accused identified as 44-year-old Shanavas from Keeniloor in Kozhikode district, is an Arabic teacher at Poovambayi AM Higher Secondary School.
The incident took place on Wednesday evening on the Wayanad to Kozhikode route. When the girl raised an alarm, passengers asked the driver to take the bus to Thamarassery police station.
Following this, police recorded the girl's statement and Shanavas was arrested under provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. "He is scheduled to be produced before the court later on Thursday," the Thamarassery police officials said.

Class 12 Jharkhand student raped and blackmailed by teachers
In August this year, a Class 12 student in Jharkhand's Ranchi was allegedly raped by her school teacher, Sameedh Kashyap, who also filmed the act and threatened to leak the video. The survivor's mother complained to the school and after a medical examination to confirm the allegations, an FIR was filed on July 29.
The case was filed under IPC sections 354 (Assault of criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), and 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt). The accused was not charged with rape as the complaint from the survivor's mother allegedly differed from the complaint which the school filed.
