Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, was welcomed with a standing ovation at the Wimbledon Men's final on July 14, as she made her second public appearance since her cancer treatment. Middleton commanded attention in a violet midi-dress. The British Royal's arrival with daughter Princess Charlotte and sister Pippa Matthews came as a pleasant surprise to her admirers who had long awaited to see her. Her photos were posted on Wimbledon's official Instagram handle with the caption, “Great to be back at @Wimbledon! There’s nothing quite like The Championships.”
On June 15, 2024, Kate Middleton joined King Charles' birthday parade in London, marking her first one in the eye of the public after her cancer diagnosis earlier this year. The senior royal had revealed that she was undergoing chemotherapy.
Surprise Announcement & Cancer Update
Barely three months after she revealed her cancer diagnosis to the public, the Princess communicated via Kensington Palace on X (formerly Twitter) that she would make a brief appearance at the Trooping the Colours ceremony.
"I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days." she wrote during her first public appearance, "On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well. My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months. On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home."
She also noted that she was looking forward to joining a few more public engagements throughout the summer but is not entirely out of the woods yet.
