The new division that she will head at Westland will focus on literary and mainstream fiction and non fiction.

“Westland is excited to have Karthika on board as Publisher, Westland. Karthika will head a newly formed division at Westland, focusing on literary and mainstream fiction and non-fiction. This reiterates Westland’s commitment to Indian authors and readers,”a Westland spokesperson told SheThePeople.TV.

Karthika begun her career at Penguin in 1996 and stayed there till 2006.  She was at HarperCollins India till last October, when she decided to step down. Amazon also completed its acquisition of Westland last October. Westland was previously owned by the Tata Group, and Amazon, which now wholly owns the company, had first acquired 26 percent of the company in February last year for 9.5 crore.

The publishing house is the home of best-selling authors such as Anuja Chauhan, Ravi Subramanian and Amish Tripathi.

Karthika has worked with the best in literary fiction. She has published renowned authors such as Aravind Adiga, Manu Joseph, and Anita Nair.

It will be interesting to watch what Karthika’s talent, Amazon’s prowess, and Westland's infrastructure will be able to produce.
