Kareena Kapoor And Saif Ali Khan Announce That They Are Expecting Second Child

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan have officially announced that they are expecting a second baby. The ecstatic couple shared in a statement, “We are very pleased to announce that we are expecting an addition to our family !! Thank you to all our well-wishers for all their love and support.”

The couple's first child Taimur has been the centre of media attention since his birth in December 2016. He is three-year-old now and soon to become a big brother.

Reacting to the rumours around Kareena Kapoor's pregnancy,her father Randhir Kapoor told Hindustan Times, "I hope it's true and if so, I would be very happy. Doh bachche toh hone chahiye (One should have two children) to give each other company."

Becoming a mother

Kareena and Saif got married in 2012. In 2018, on a chat show, the Kareena said that she was looking forward to having a second baby and had reportedly given a three-word reply when asked the baby question - she said 'After two years'.

Joking about her pregnancy rumours two years back, her best friend Amrita Arora said, “I just told her if she decides to get pregnant again, let me know because I’ll be leaving the country.” She was referring to all the craze that surrounded Kareena’s pregnancy the first time around.

In the same year, Kareena also said that parents should share the load and responsibility of bringing up a child. "It takes two to tango. It takes two to make a child, and we need to share the load and responsibility. Of course, what a mother can do, a father can’t, but there are a lot of things that a father can bring to a table that probably a mother can’t. And, if we are lucky to have that support, I should use it to the fullest.”

Opening up about motherhood in an interview Kareena had said, “My life is no more my own. My heart no more beats inside me. It beats in this gorgeous looking boy that I sleep next to every night and everything is in his two tiny little hands."

On the work front, Kareena will be seen alongside Aamir Khan in the much-awaited movie Laal Singh Chaddha whose release date has been pushed to 25 December 2021.
