Kannada Actor Sanjjanaa Galrani Granted Bail After Three Months Of Her Arrest

Kannada actresses Sanjjanaa Galrani who was on  September 8 has been granted bail by the Karnataka High Court in a drug case, three months after her arrest.

Justice Sreenivas Harish Kumar allowed her plea with a condition that she fulfils a personal bond of Rs three lakh with two sureties. She also has to cooperate with the investigating officer and appear twice a month for further procedures.

Sanjjanaa was arrested along with Kannada actress Ragini Dwivedi, during a police crackdown followed after the Narcotics Control Bureau arrested three persons in Bengaluru in August who were allegedly supplying drugs to the Kannada film actors and singers. The charges pressed against her were possessing and supplying narcotics and later remanded to judicial custody.

According to a PTI report, a total of 16 people have been arrested so far in connection with drug abuse among high-profile people. Mohammed Anoop was one of those arrested by NCB. He was alleged to be an unknown holder for the son of former CPI(M) Kerala secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Bineesh Kodiyeri. Kodiyeri was also arrested on October 29 in a money laundering case linked to the drug seizure.

As per police, in a January video shot by Galrani herself, she was seen driving a high-end convertible. The traffic police had booked and fined her for rash driving and using phone while driving. The video showed a man sitting next to her, who was identified as Niyas Mohammed, a co-accused in the case. In a viral video, Galrani was seen refusing to give a blood sample for a dope test. Although she did comply with the police after they showed the court order.

“I am losing confidence in police. I don’t know why I have been arrested. There is no evidence against me. I’ve been made a scapegoat and brought here. How am I responsible if someone who I had called makes a call to someone?” she had said.

Who is Sanjjanaa Galrani

Sanjjanaa Galrani is a former model who has worked Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam and Tamil films. The actress who made her debut with Tamil film Oru Kadhal Seiveer (2006), is best known for her role in the Kannada film Ganda Hendathi (2006), which is a remake of the Hindi film Murder. She made her Telugu film debut alongside popular Southern actor Prabhas, with the 2008 film Bujjigadu.

Galrani later appeared as a contestant in the debut season of Bigg Boss Kannada and was also a participant on Hindi reality show Mujhse Shaadi Karoge.
