The Mumbai Police on Tuesday issued summons to Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel. Police have asked them to appear for interrogation on November 10 after an FIR was registered against the sisters for allegedly posting offensive tweets and spreading communal hate on social media. Ranaut and Chandel are currently in Manali.
On October 29, a Mumbai court ordered the police to start an inquiry against Ranaut and her sister for allegedly posting "hateful" and "derogatory" statements against a particular community on Twitter. "Mumbai Police summons actor Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli to be present before it on November 10. The summons pertain to an FIR registered against them after court orders on allegations that they tried to create a divide between communities through social media posts," ANI tweeted.
According to the complaint filed by Munawwar Ali Sayyed, the sisters had been spreading "communal hatred" through their "offensive statements" and "illicit videos" on Twitter since April. It was also implicated that they targeted a particular community, following which, Chandel's account on the micro-blogging site was suspended.
Earlier, the Mumbai Police had also issued their summoning on October 26 and 27 in a sedition case for allegedly "attempting to allege war against the Government"
More legal trouble?
Lyricist-writer Javed Akhtar has reportedly filed a defamation suit against the Queen actress. Earlier, Ranaut's sister Chandel had tweeted “Javed Akhtar ji called Kangana home and intimidated her threatened her to say sorry to Hrithik, Mahesh Bhatt threw chappal on her cos she refused to play a suicide bomber, they call PM Facist, chacha ji aap dono kya ho?”
