Actress Kangana Ranaut is in legal trouble again, this time, for commenting on 90-year-old Bilkis Bano, one of the famed Shaheen Bagh dadis. Ranaut had earlier tweeted about the ongoing farmers’ protests against new farm bills. She had mistaken an elderly woman participating in the rally to be the famous Bilkis Bano and claimed she was "available for Rs 100" to protest. Now, a legal notice has been sent to the Queen actress by a Chandigarh lawyer for her remark and making a false claim on social media. Ranaut later went on to delete her post.

An advocate from Punjab and Haryana High Court wrote in the notice that the "said lady was not a fake lady".

Ranaut wrote in her post, "Ha ha ha, she is the same Dadi who was named by Time Magazine as India's most powerful person...And she is available in 100 rupees. Pakistani journos have hijacked international PR for India in an embarrassing way. We need our own people to speak for us internationally." Revealing that the woman in the photograph was not Bilkis Dadi, the advocate added that she was an elderly woman whose name was Mahinder Kaur, someone who has "always remained connected with fields and fields work and is the wife of a farmer."

The lawyer's notice stated, 'This is to advise you that before tweeting any information on social media, you must authenticate the real information'. For those who don't know, Bilkis Bano is an 82-year-old woman who became the face of the anti-CAA-NRC protests at Shaheen Bagh. She is fondly known as Bilkis Dadi.

Bano said she was at home in Delhi, not at the protest

Shaheen Bagh's Bilkis Dadi herself confirmed that she was at her home in Delhi when the said photograph was clicked and was not the one seen at the farmer's protest. "I am sitting at home, in Shaheen Bagh. I am not the one in the photo. The farmers who are protesting and the photo of the woman that is being shared is not mine. I will be joining the protest tomorrow," she told BOOM over a video chat.

Ranaut's comment, however, did not end there. Further reacting to the ongoing farmers' protests, she had tweeted, "Shame... in the name of farmers har koi apni rotiyaan sek raha hai, hopefully, the government won’t allow anti-national elements to take advantage and create another Shaheen Baag riots for bloodthirsty vultures and tukde gang...” (sic)

Actor Sargun Mehta slammed Ranaut for her views and tweeted, "Like you have the right to express yourself, they too have the right to put across their opinions. The only difference is that you speak without any reason or a cause and they are fighting for their rights."

Bigg Boss 13 contestant Himanshi Khurana also called out Kangana Ranaut on Twitter:

Reacting to Ranaut's comment, Kaur, who is a farmer herself, told Indian Express, “I was told some actor wrote about me like this. She never visited my house, never saw what I am doing and she said that ‘I am available at Rs 100’. Bhot buri gal hai…assi ki karne hai 100 rupaye. I have three daughters, all are married. My son lives with me along with his wife and children. I have harvested crop with sickles. I pick cotton even now. At home, I sow vegetables for the family myself and take care of the crop."

On her decision to participate in the protests, she said, “I can go to Delhi even now. I have that enthusiasm .. I am active enough to be part of farmers’ agitation."
