A source from the DNA report said, "Rangoon has released and her next film Simran, will be releasing in September this year. Meanwhile, there are reports that her long-standing project Rani Lakshmibai is now being revived. Once she's done with this Ketan Mehta film, she will head straight into her directorial venture. That would be sometime next year."

Known for her opinionated character who doesn’t fail to speak up against wrong, directing a film has been on Kangana's wish-list. But now it is official and she is planning to act in her own film too.

“What is further remarkable is the fact that she is doing this when she is at the top of her game,” a close associate said, adding, “She could have signed multiple films as an actress after Tanu Weds Manu Returns, but she decided to wait. There is a very good probability that she will be casting herself as the central protagonist in the film, hence, playing the dual role of a director and actress. It will be a swift transition into a new role for Kangana."

The source said, “She is clearly thinking about what could she get on her platter next. There is a saturation point that an actress reaches and at this stage of her career, when she is clearly calling the shots, it makes sense to do that while on the sets.”

While confirming the news, Kangana said, “That’s correct, I need growth in some other dimension now. A film of mine has to be something else. The role that I play has to be something remarkable. I am looking at a step ahead and direction is the next logical thing for me. To direct a biopic next is something that is happening for sure.”

While the stellar performer knows how to keep audiences hooked to a topic, Kangana did not reveal more and only said, “Yeh toh 2019 ki baat ho gayi ab. Thoda time dete hain saari details dene mein. Rangoon and Rani Lakshmibai ke baad banaani hai movie. I am ready for it though. Bring it on!”
