Kangana Ranaut passport renewal: Actor Kangana Ranaut took to Instagram stories to share her views regarding the rejection of her plea to renew her passport.
She said that the 'Mahavinashkari' government has started to harass her indirectly. She further alleged that when Aamir Khan called India 'intolerant', he was not tortured in any way.
On Wednesday, June 16, Kangana Ranaut shared an Instagram story that said how her request for passport renewal was rejected because of the ongoing sedition case. "Mahavinashkari government has started my indirect haraament again, my request for passport renewal has been rejected because a tapori/roadside romeo called Munnawar Ali filed a sedition case (deshdroh case yes the irony of it is hilarious) on me." Ranaut added, "By the way the case was almost dismissed by the court yet court rejected my request and the reason given is 'my request is vague' hmmmm."
The actor-filmmaker also said that no such steps were taken against Aamir Khan. She wrote, "Please note when Aamir Khan offended BJP government by calling India intolerant no one held back his passport to stop his films or shoots. In no way he was tortured or harassed #Justsaying."
Kangana Ranaut passport renewal: actor approached court after rejection
In an application filed to the Bombay High Court, Ranaut stated that the Passport Authority has refused to renew her passport. This was because of an FIR that the Bandra police had registered against her and her sister Rangoli Chandel over comments they had allegedly made on Twitter in October last year. The court adjourned the hearing on the application on June 15 to June 25. A bench consisting of the Justices PB Varale and SP Tavade stated that Ranaut's application was 'vague' because it did not place all relevant facts on record.
Reportedly, the actor's passport expires in September. She needed to get it renewed as she has to travel to Budapest, Hungary this month for the shooting of her film Dhakkad.
Besides Dhakkad, Ranaut will be seen in the movies Thalaivi, Tejas and Imli. She will also be playing the role of the former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in an upcoming political drama.
