Lyricist-writer Javed Akhtar has reportedly filed a defamation suit against Kangana Ranaut in a Mumbai court on Tuesday, saying the Queen actress has been making “baseless allegations” against him in multiple media interviews. Reacting to the news, Ranaut took to her Twitter account and wrote: “Ek thi sherni… aur bhediyon ka jhund (there once was a lioness… and a pack of wolves).”
The complaint has been filed before the Metropolitan Magistrate at Andheri, Mumbai. As per the complaint, Akhtar pointed out that Ranaut's comments caused damage to his reputation, while she, however, shared the tweet of Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut addressing the same. The politician had tweeted, “Lyricist Javed Akhtar files criminal complaint against Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut for making defamatory statements on national and international television. The complaint has been filed before the Metropolitan Magistrate at Andheri, Mumbai.”

Earlier this year, Ranaut accused Akhtar of calling her home and threatening not to speak of her relationship with Hrithik Roshan. He also asked her to apologise to Roshan, sister Rangoli Chandel had claimed.
Ranaut’s sister Chandel had tweeted “Javed Akhtar ji called Kangana home and intimidated her threatened her to say sorry to Hrithik, Mahesh Bhatt threw chappal on her cos she refused to play a suicide bomber, they call PM Facist, chacha ji aap dono kya ho?”
The writer, however, said no such threats were issued. In the complaint, Akhtar alleged Ranaut baselessly dragged his name and referred to a “privilege club” in Bollywood while calling attention to a “coterie” existing in film industry in the aftermath of the death of Rajput in June.
Earlier, reacting to Ranaut's statement against her husband, Shabana Azmi had said in an interview to Mumbai Mirror, “Kangana has started believing in her own myth. She says she taught feminism to the film industry, she taught it nationalism. I’m glad she spelled that out because nobody else had noticed! I think she fears the day when she will no longer be in the headlines and so has to keep making outrageous statements to stay in the news. Poor girl, why doesn’t she just do what she is best at, which is acting.”
