Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut praised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s decision to set up a new film city near Noida in a recent series of tweets. Ranaut’s tweets also called for the unification of all Indian regional film industries into one big “Indian film industry.” The actress went on to question people’s perception of the Hindi film industry as India’s top industry.

Sharing a news article about the proposed new film city in Noida, she wrote, “Telugu film industry has ascended itself to the top position and now catering films to pan India in multiple languages, many hindi films being shot in Ramoji Hydrabad.” Ranaut’s second tweet applauded CM Adityanath’s announcement. She cited Hollywood's example and said that India should establish a single Indian film industry. “One industry but many film Cities,” Ranaut wrote.

The actress’ third tweet criticised the Hindi film industry for allegedly monopolising theatres and leaving regional movies at a disadvantage. She wrote, “Best of dubbed regional films don’t get pan India release but dubbed Hollywood films get mainstream release it’s alarming."

Later, Ranaut also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to unify regional film industries like “Akhand Bharat.” She tweeted, “Films have an ability to bring the entire nation together but @PMOIndia let’s first please bring these many industries together who have individual identities but not a collective identity please join them together like Akhand Bharat and we will make it number one in the world. Kangana Ranaut has recently been in the news because of her unrelenting tirade against Bollywood.
