Speculation has been doing the rounds that ace Olympic sprinter Dutee Chand was approached by several filmmakers for the rights to her biopic. In a recent interview to Bombay Times, Dutee revealed that actor Anil Kapoor and filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra are among the many who have reached out to her for the rights, TOI reported. On asking about whom she thinks will be perfect to portray her on screen, Dutee said Kangana Ranaut is her favourite among the actresses pitched for the role.
She added, “I think Priyanka Chopra did a very good job in Mary Kom. While I don’t know who will eventually be selected, I think Kangana Ranaut can portray me perfectly on screen, I like her as an actress.”
“I have got requests from so many filmmakers who are keen to make my biopic, but I haven’t given the nod yet. Apart from Anil Kapoor and Rakeysh Mehra, a lot of actors and actresses have independently reached out. With the number of requests coming my way, lagta hai meri story bahut hit hogi,” the sprinter said.

“It’s a long story. I’ve gone through a lot in my life, I have seen a lot of struggle and difficulty. I have braved it all and won medals for my country with my determination,” Dutee explained how much she had struggled to be on the top today.
Responding to the approach, Kangana also commented, “That’s very kind of Duteeji. She is the epitome of courage and strength and she has not only set a benchmark in her professional life, but the kind of courage she has displayed in her personal life is also commendable. I am humbled that she feels I am worthy of playing her.”

The sprinter has recently broken the news that she is in a same-sex relationship. Soon after her public announcement, she started facing a backlash from her family, especially her sister, who is allegedly threatening to send the athlete to jail over her sexual orientation. According to The Sunday Express, Dutee revealed that she has found a soulmate, a girl from her hometown of Chaka Gopalpur in Odisha and she has never been happier.
Unapologetic Dutee has also expressed that her parents have not objected to her relationship outright yet, but her eldest sister has some serious issues. She had actually threatened to banish her from the family and also made it clear that if Dutee carries on with this relationship she would have her sent to jail.
Dutee is yet to reveal the identity of her partner, however, she said she did not want make her “the centre of undue attention”. “I have found someone who is my soulmate. I believe everyone should have the freedom to be with whoever they decide they want to be with. I have always supported the rights of those who want to be in a same-sex relationship. It is an individual person’s choice,” Dutee told The Indian Express.
On the work front, a confident Dutee is currently training in Hyderabad to qualify for the World Championships and the Tokyo Olympics, slated to be held in 2020.
