Kangana Ranaut claimed that she had to sleep with a hero to get a two-minute role, item numbers or a romantic scene in a film. Her comments came after veteran actress and Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan, in a recent Parliament speech, called out the conspiracy to defame the film industry. She claimed that few people are tarnishing the film industry by badmouthing it.
Reacting to Jaya Bachchan's speech, Kangana tweeted, "Kaun si thali di hai Jaya ji aur unki industry ne? Ek thali mili thi jisme do minute ke role, item numbers aur ek romantic scene milta tha, woh bhi hero ke saath sone ke baad. Maine iss industry ko feminism sikhaya, thali deshbhakti naripradhan filmon se sajayi. Yeh meri apni thali hai, Jaya ji, aapki nahi (Jayaji, what plate you are referring to? The one that was offered to me had two-minute roles, item numbers and a romantic scene, that too in return of sleeping with the hero. I taught the industry feminism. This is my own plate, Jayaji, not yours)."
https://t.co/lPo9X4hRZX

Kangana had earlier claimed that it was she who had introduced feminism in the industry and created a position for herself. “I taught feminism to the film industry, decorated the ‘thaali’ with patriotic films. This is my own plate Jaya ji, it is not yours,” she wrote in Hindi on Twitter.

Filmmaker Alankrita Shrivastava criticised Ranaut for her tweet. “There is nothing feminist about abusing generations of women who have cleared the way so we can enjoy the opportunities we do. Being abusive towards women like Indira Jaising and Jaya Bachchan is not okay. It is shameful. #JustSaying,” she wrote.

Bachchan, without taking any names, slammed BJP MP and actor Ravi Kishan for his drugs conspiracy remark in the Lok Sabha on Monday. She was praised by many of her colleagues in Bollywood.

Veteran actor and BJP MP Hema Malini also backed Bachchan's speech, saying that no one can tarnish the image of Bollywood. "These are small instances, like a stain on a piece of cloth we must wash it away. I have received a lot of love from this industry, how can I watch anyone say anything bad about it?" said she, about the drug abuse allegations against several Bollywood celebrities that have been levied in wake of actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death and the resultant probe by Narcotics Control Bureau.
