Kamalpreet Kaur holds the record of being the first Indian female discuss throw player to breach the 65-meter barrier in the sport. Hailing from Kabarwala, a small town in Punjab, Kaur joined sports on the advice of her physical education coach. In her first-ever state meet, she came fourth and that's when she started taking the sport seriously. She has won many medals including gold at Federation Cup Senior Athletics Championship in 2019. She made history in the 24th Federation Cup Senior Athletics Championships by throwing a record 65.06 meters, the longest throw ever by a woman, and qualified for the Tokyo Olympics.

Kamalpreet Kaur Banned For Three Years

Kamalpreet Kaur was banned by the Athletics Integrity Unit for a period of three years on October 12 for consuming prohibited substances. She had provided a urine sample on March 7 in Patiala for an out-of-competition test whose report came three weeks later. The report from a World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) accredited laboratory in Switzerland's Lausanne, dated March 29, reported that a prohibited substance was identified in the sample. The AIU reportedly confirmed on Wednesday that the prohibited substance found in the sample was Stanozolol.

The dope test was one of the regular tests that athletes have to go through to keep a check on what they are consuming during the year. The athletes have no information when they will be tested and are informed to be present for it without fail within 60 minutes. After the report of March 29, Kamalpreet Kaur, according to AIU, on April 11 requested that she not want Sample B analysis or Laboratory Documentation Packages unless she would be assisted with the costs related to it.

Kamalpreet Kaur sent the four protein supplements she was consuming at that time to a New Delhi-based private lab where one of them was tested to contain 'traces of steroid'. The three years ban on Kaur means she won't be able to participate in Asian Games 2023 and 2024 Olympics that will be held in Paris.
