Vice President Kamala Harris appoints a third-year law student as her assistant press secretary. The law student, Rachel Palermo shared her happiness on Twitter after the announcement by the Vice President.
Palermo is now in the second semester of her final year at Notre Dame Law School. She has been active in political communications since the 2016 elections after she joined the Democratic National Committee's press team.

One of her professors at Notre Dame Law School, Prof. Christine Venter said, "While completing the last semester of law school and working full-time in a demanding position might seem daunting to some, I have the utmost confidence that Rachel will not only succeed but do so brilliantly." While talking about her new appointment, Rachel Palermo told, "Notre Dame Law School has prepared me for my new role because there is an important intersection between law and communications. In both fields, I've learned how to write persuasively and communicate compelling messages. Now, Rachel Palermo is all set to work at the White House while doing her law studies simultaneously.
Meanwhile, Kamala Harris herself is a law graduate from the University of California and Hastings College of Law. She had also represented California in the US Senate during the previous administration. Harris has served as the state's attorney general.
