Who Is Kajal Hindustani? Woman Booked For Hate Speech After Communal Clash

Self-proclaimed activist Kajal Hindustani has been booked by the Una Police for alleged hate speech during a Ram Navami event. The police also lodged a separate FIR and detained 50 to 60 other people for rioting.

Hindustani was booked under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 295(A) (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage the religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious belief).

As per reports, the communal clash erupted in Una, Gujarat on Saturday, April 1, amid tension caused by Kajal Hindustani's speech. Hindustani allegedly targeted the Muslim community.

Superintendent of Police Sripal Sheshma revealed that two FIRs were registered. One FIR was filed against Kajal Hindustani and another was registered against the mob for rioting.

He added that the police were going through CCTV footage and detained 50 to 60 people. Two State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) teams have been deployed in the town.

• During the meeting, a heated argument took place and as the news spread, the shops and marketplaces in Una closed down as the situation became tense.
• According to senior police officials, the leaders of the two communities had reached a settlement, but stone pelting started before the news of the settlement was conveyed to the citizens.
• According to Kajal Hindustani's website, she travelled to various cities in the United States and delivered speeches as part of the 2019 Lok Sabha Election Campaign. She gave speeches about the achievements of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
• As per the site, she also settled Pakistani Hindus in Gujarat and ensured that drinking and tap water reached slum areas in Gujarat.
