Self-proclaimed activist Kajal Hindustani has been booked by the Una Police for alleged hate speech during a Ram Navami event. The police also lodged a separate FIR and detained 50 to 60 other people for rioting.
Hindustani was booked under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 295(A) (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage the religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious belief).
As per reports, the communal clash erupted in Una, Gujarat on Saturday, April 1, amid tension caused by Kajal Hindustani's speech. Hindustani allegedly targeted the Muslim community.
Superintendent of Police Sripal Sheshma revealed that two FIRs were registered. One FIR was filed against Kajal Hindustani and another was registered against the mob for rioting.
He added that the police were going through CCTV footage and detained 50 to 60 people. Two State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) teams have been deployed in the town.
