K-Pop girl group Blackpink, a South Korean girl band, sold 1.2 million copies of their first full album The Album, making them the first-ever Korean girl group to sell over one million copies of an album. YG Entertainment, Blackpink's record label, released this news on October 26.
The Album hits one million record
The Album was released on October 2. It rose to the top of the iTunes Top Albums charts in 57 countries immediately after its release. It made a debut at number two on both the Billboard 200, breaking the record for Korean girl groups. On this week’s Billboard 200, The Album managed to stick to number 10 position, making Blackpink the first K-pop girl group to stay in the Top 10 for three consecutive weeks.

Ever since YT Entertainment's announcement, Blackpink has been trending on Twitter today, as numerous fans took to social media, to congratulate the K-pop group.

About Blackpink
Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa are four artists who are part of the K-pop girl group Blackpink. They practised for six years as trainees and underwent rigorous monthly evaluations by their agency, before making their debut. They entered the K-pop industry in 2016. Their debut album Square One’s song “Boombayah” made the group the fastest musical act to assume the No. 1 position on Billboard’s World Digital Songs chart at that time. In 2018, Blackpink became the highest-charting K-pop girl group on Billboard courtesy their single “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” and the EP Square Up. The song "Ddu-Du Ddu Du” managed to climb upto No. 55 on the Billboard Hot 100 while Square Up rose to No. 40 on the Billboard 200.

Blackpink have collaborated on some bilingual songs with renowned artists like Dua Lipa ( “Kiss and Make Up”) and Lady Gaga (“Sour Candy”).
