US President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris are expected to get vaccinated for coronavirus in the coming week, a transition official said. While the President-elect and his wife, Jill Biden, will be vaccinated on Monday, Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, will receive their shots next week, after Christmas.
After Vice President Mike Pence and his wife, Karen, were vaccinated earlier on Friday, Biden's incoming press secretary, Jen Psaki, made the announcement that Joe and Jill Biden will get a shot of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine on December 21. The separation between vaccinations of Biden and Harris is to maintain stability in case either of the two has any adverse reaction to the shot, reports Deadline.
Biden is expected to be sworn into office as the 46th commander in chief of the United States on January 20, 2021. Apart from Harris, who will be the first woman to be sworn in as Vice President of the US, the Biden-Harris administration is welcoming several American citizens of Indian origin in key positions.

Earlier this week, speaking about getting vaccinated, Biden said, “I don’t want to get ahead of the line but I want to make sure that we demonstrate to the American people that it’s safe to take.” He added: “We’re working on that plan right now. And when I do it, I’ll do it publicly.” He has time and again requested US citizens to wear masks and social distance frequently and has also pledged to distribute “at least 100 million Covid vaccine shots” in his first 100 days in office.

"The Biden-Harris administration will get COVID-19 under control by listening to the experts, implementing nationwide testing and tracing, and ensuring vaccines are safe and free for all," Harris tweeted earlier this week.

Our priorities include ensuring Americans wear a mask, distributing 100M vaccine doses, and getting our kids safely back to school.
Harris was born in California to an Indian mother and Jamaican father. She is soon going to be US’ first female Vice President.
