Not the first time that a jilted lover devoured a life

This is not the first time when a jilted lover's anger targeted a woman's life. These incidents are being reported almost every day. Where are we going wrong? Why are men getting so enraged as to kill a woman? Is their sadness, heartbreak and anger bigger than someone's life? Is it even about the feelings or the male ego?

In our society, women are not allowed to make any choices. Be it in terms of life or relationships. Women have to tailor their choices to the expectations of society, in this case, to protect their lives. But what if a woman doesn't want to stay in a relationship? What if it is toxic or has no future? Walking out of it is a basic human right. A woman cannot be killed for that. Moreover, even if she has an affair, does she deserve to be killed? Just exchange the gender here. What if a man had broken the relationship and cheated on a woman? Will he meet the end the woman did?

Let's stop taking women's lives for granted. Their lives have values beyond protecting male ego and patriarchal conditions. Killing a woman in broad daylight, amidst a busy street and unopposed is just a reflection of how low our society can go in forgetting that women are humans, not pawns of men.
