A resident of Ghumla, Jharkhand allegedly raped his step daughter, a minor after luring her with cold drink. The incident took place at Dasham falls in Ranchi. He also threatened her of serious consequences if she revealed the matter to anyone. The accused was booked based on the complaint of the victim on Monday.
The police revealed to India Today that they are looking for the accused who is attempting to escape after being named. The minor girl first told about the incident to her maternal grandmother with whom she has been living for two months.

On Sunday, the accused reached the house of the victim's grandmother and took her out saying that he would buy her a cold drink. However, he allegedly started driving towards Namkum road. When she protested, the step father convinced her that he had some work ahead. He claimed he would get her a cold drink when he has completed the task.
The accused then allegedly took her to Dasham falls, a popular tourist spot few kilometres away from the main town of Ranchi and raped her there. He further threatened her that she would have to face dire consequences if she revealed the ordeal to anyone. Post this, he dropped her home. The minor girl however told her grandmother what had happened. Then the family lodged a complaint against the man and the girl also underwent a medical examination. According to a report, the police said that teams have been formed to nab the accused.
On May 23, an FIR was lodged against a 38-year-old man hailing from Mumbai under sections 376 and 377 of IPC and POCSO act at the Andheri police station for allegedly raping his 11-year-old daughter. The man was arrested on May 25 for the heinous crime. Click here to read an opinion.
