#Metoo campaign empowered several women to recall and reveal their incidents of sexual harassment and assault. The latest to join the movement is veteran actor Jeetendra Kumar’s cousin. On Wednesday, she filed a police complaint accusing Kumar of sexually harassing her about 47 years ago.
When they were both in a hotel room in Shimla, Kumar came back drunk at midnight. He joined the two separate beds and forced himself on her, she claimed in the FIR.
In relation, Kumar is the son of victim’s father’s sister. She filed the complaint with Himachal Pradesh’ Director General of Police. She told the police that in 1971, she was 18-years-old and Kumar was 28. He had staged for her to accompany him on the sets of his movie from New Delhi to Shimla without her knowledge.

Kumar is a popular name in the Hindi film industry. And this is possibly the first time when someone has levelled such allegations against a celebrated name in Bollywood. It is taking forward the trend established in Hollywood where several women have accused powerful men of sexual abuse.
However, Kumar’s lawyer has issued a statement against the allegations saying that 75-year-old Kumar denies such “baseless” claims.
“..Such baseless, ridiculous and fabricated claims cannot be entertained by any Court of law or the law enforcement agencies after a span of almost 50 years. The Statute has provided a justice delivery system through the Courts. And the Limitation Act 1963 was specifically enacted to ensure that all genuine complaints are made within a maximum time limit of three years so that a proper investigation is carried out and timely justice is delivered,” the statement issued by advocate Rizwan Siddiquee said.
“..the timing of this baseless complaint seems to be nothing but a miserable effort made by a jealous competitor to disrupt the business activities of my client and his esteemed company,” the statement said.
