Jawed Habib drew nationwide criticism for his action of spitting on woman's hair in Muzaffarnagar during a seminar held by WonderSoft Professionals. The matter was taken cognisance of by National Commission for Women(NCW), and he was directed to appear for the hearing at the NCW's office on January 11, 2022.
The hairstylist and entrepreneur running salons as a part of his chain under the name "Jawed Habib Salon", appeared before the commission today.

He lay before his case in front of the hearing committee and mentioned that he did not intend to hurt anybody. The 58-year-old hairstylist also issued a written apology to the commission.
On January 6, 2022, the NCW took cognisance of the matter in the matter of Pooja Gupta from Baraut town of Uttar Pradesh. It asked the Director General Of Police (DGP) of Uttar Pradesh to investigate the authenticity of the video and take appropriate action.
Following this, FIR was registered at Mansurpur police station under section 504 (intentional insult), section 355 (assaults or use of criminal force), of the Indian Penal Code along with Epidemic Disease Act, 1897.
During the session, Habib told the attendees - "thook mai jaan hai" and directed them to use saliva if they do not have enough water at their salon. He spat on the woman twice during the session. As per the statements of the woman, he tried to humiliate her by asking questions during the seminar stating she just owns one salon and he has more than 900 salons.

The woman also accused him of using force on her, to which she objected during the session. After the incident, when she raised the issue with the organisers of the seminar, they did not take down her complaint and the stylist's assistant told her that "he was joking".
The hairstylist later stated an apology in the media and clarified how he wanted to make the long sessions humorous. He added, "If you are truly hurt, I apologise from the bottom of my heart."
NCW, the agency responsible for working on the rights of women in India, directed him to ensure that such things do not get repeated.
