A star
Fonda is “a feminist, activist, and she remains a star," said Thierry Fremaux while describing the actress.
Festival officials said they will honour Fonda for "her willingness to embody fierce independence from a young age (and) for her singular personality that has inspired her to choose powerful, politically-committed female characters".
In an official statement on June 11, the organizers said, "With a filmography as impressive as her roles, she is at once fragile, naive, strong, committed, a femme fatale, a mesmerising presence, as well as funny and irreverent."
