'Jalebi Baba' Raped 100 Women, Occulist Sentenced For 14 Years

In Haryana, an occultist was recently sentenced to 14 years in prison by the Fatehabad court for drugging and raping around 100 women and recording them to blackmail them later. The occultist was a self-styled godman who named himself 'Jalebi Baba'.

Occultists and tantriks are often found taking advantage of people's weaknesses and pain to have their way with them. They ask them to do rituals and ask for hefty amounts of money to allegedly eradicate their problems and the troubled people do as they say, fearing the worst. Another case of an occultist abusing innocent people for personal gains has surfaced from Fatehabad, Haryana where a man named Amarpuri, aka, Jalebi Baba sexually abused over 100 women who came to him with their problems.

Jalebi Baba Booked For Rape

On January 5, Fatehabad's fast-track court sentenced 63-year-old Jalebi Baba to 14 years in jail for reportedly drugging, raping and recording sex tapes of over 100 women who came to him to get solutions to their problems. The occultist used to blackmail them with their sex tapes to take money from them or else he would release them publicly. The case was being judged by Balwant Singh, an additional district judge.

The occultist was booked under Indian Penal Code Section 376 C (raping two women with sentenced to 7 years imprisonment and Section 67 A of the IT Act with 5 years in jail. He was also booked under POCSO Act for raping a minor twice and Arms Act. He was sentenced under Sections 292, 293, 294, 384 and 509 of IPC. On being convicted, the occultist reportedly burst into tears in court. Six survivors appeared in front of the court and recorded their statements based on which the court announced the judgement.

Amarpuri was associated with Tohana, Haryana's Baba Balak Nath Mandir. In 2018, an informer showed Pradeep Kumar, a station house officer in Tohana, a sex video tape allegedly recorded by Jalebi Baba. The police arrested him and according to Bimla Devi, in charge of the women's police cell, sex video tapes of 120 women were recovered from the accused's mobile. The police further investigated the case and got in touch with the survivors to get the accused convicted.
