Jacqueline Fernandez's lawyer statement came a day after the actor was named as accused in the Sukesh Chandrashekhar money laundering case. The lawyer claims that the actor was a victim and was conned which makes it unfortunate for her to be considered guilty.
In Sukesh Chandrashekhar money laundering case, actor Jacqueline Fernandez was named as accused on August 17. The actor came under the radar when her pictures with the conman went viral which spread rumours about a relationship. Upon investigation and multiple questioning sessions with her, the Enforcement Directorate found that she had assets worth Rs 7.27 crores that had connections with the case and were considered illegal under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. On August 18, Jacqueline's lawyer Prashant Patil released a statement on the ED's prosecution and defended the actor.
Jacqueline Fernandez Lawyer Statement, Calls Actor 'Victim Of Conspiracy'
Prashant Patil said that the actor was really cooperative with the investigation of ED even though she was not involved in the conspiracy. Even if the prosecution is true, the lawyer reportedly claimed that there can be no possible case against the 36-year old actor. The prosecution intends at harming the dignity of the actor and hence she will be taking necessary steps to defend her innocence. He said Fernandez was not a part of the conspiracy but was rather a victim of it.
Regarding the official report from ED, Patil reportedly said, "We have received information about the complaint being filed by the Enforcement Directorate only through media reports. There is no official communication from the Enforcement Directorate or the Hon’ble Court. My client has not received any copy of the complaint filed by the Enforcement Directorate. However, if the media reports are true, then it’s unfortunate that my client has been arraigned as an accused in the said case"
As per the lawyer's statement, the actor will now be moving to the Patiala Court on Thursday, to ask for the official copy of the complaint that the ED filed against her as it is her right to get it after being accused. There is no information on what steps she will be taking to prove the prosecution wrong.
