Iran has been criticised a lot because of the increasing cases of human trafficking in the country. It was among the top countries that made it to the list curated by former US President Donald Trump of countries that could not take appropriate action against human trafficking. As per recent reports, the Iranian government executed the leader of a human trafficking group.
The human rights protests for the liberty of women in Iran are still ongoing. There are new updates and executions every day since the death of Mahsa Amini in the custody of moral police in 2022. While the topic of harsh restrictions on women's attires and behaviour in Iran is a global concern, the issue of human trafficking and the selling of women to neighbouring countries as sex workers is also a major concern.
Recently the Iranian government reportedly executed the head of a human trafficking network who was involved in selling women off as sex workers to other countries.

Iran Executes Human Trafficking Leader
As per the reports from Iran, a man named Shahrooz Sakhnoori, who went by 'Alex' headed a network of human traffickers that sold Iranian girls and women to foreign countries as sex workers.
Back in 2020, Sakhnoori was located in Malaysia where he operated his sex worker network. With the help of the Malaysian authorities, he was sent to Iran where he was held captive.
He was found guilty of 'corruption on earth' in September 2021 which means that he had multiple offences under his name including the ones against mortals. The Iranian authorities sentenced him to death and on May 20, he was reportedly executed.
Sakhnoori's network allegedly also smuggled drugs and had set up a fake international firm. He reportedly created fake student visas for trafficked women to provide them with residency in Malaysia.
The 'corruption on earth' includes several offences that a person commits against the mortals and society. The Iranian government had earlier executed two women on the pretext of this charge as well as human trafficking. However, it was later claimed that the two women were innocent and were executed because they were LGBT rights activists.
