The cops reported the incident of gun violence that took place on October 24 night due to "intimate partner violence" as they discovered bodies from the Sault Ste. Marie in northern Ontario city. The Canadian police found five dead bodies including those of three children and of the 44-year-old alleged shooter who shot himself dead with a self-inflicted wound.

Details of the incident

The news from Canada certainly raises questions about the rising cases of intimate partner violence. According to the statement issued by Sault police chief Hugh Stevenson, "The incident of an open fire by the gunman as a result of "intimate partner violence" occurred in two nearby houses on Tuesday night around 10:30 pm (local time)."

The cops received their first call around 10:20 pm and discovered a 41-year-old individual dead from a gunshot in a house on Tancred Street. There was no sign of the killer as the shooter allegedly fled the area before cops' arrival.

The police received another emergency call ten minutes later reporting gunshot injuries to multiple victims in another house just 2.3 miles (3.7 kilometres) from the first site of crime in Tancred Street.

The cops on arrival to the location of the second call they received found three children aged six, seven, and 12 years dead with gunshot injuries, as well as the alleged 44-year-old shooter with a self-inflicted wound of a gunshot in another room. As the 44-year-old injured individual was rushed to the hospital, they succumbed to the injuries, as reported by Canadian broadcaster CBC News

The primary investigation by the police found these gun violence deaths at different locations inter-linked to "intimate partner violence."

What Is Intimate Partner Violence?

Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a pattern of behaviour in any relationship that involves the abuse of one partner by another. It can take place in many forms, including physical violence, sexual violence, emotional abuse, and financial abuse. IPV can happen to anyone, regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, or socio-economic status.

Physical violence is the most obvious form of IPV and can include hitting, kicking, shoving, choking, or using weapons.
