Khush Seerat Kaur Sandhu is a 17-year-old international-level shooter who allegedly died by suicide on the morning of 9th December. She shot herself with her licenced pistol inside her Faridkot residence in Punjab.
According to reports, she was dissatisfied with her performance in the recently concluded 64th National Shooting Championship. in Delhi. Though she didn't win any medal in the individual category but she had won a team medal in the junior civilian women team event.

According to SHO of Faridkot City police station, she had shot herself with her .22 pistol and died of a headshot wound. The police authorities have handed the body to the family after autopsy and have launched the investigations. There is no suicide note that has been found.
Her father Jaswinder Singh Sandhu is employed as a teacher in a government school. Her mother works in the Punjab Agricultural University’s research centre. According to them, their daughter didn't show any visible signs of disappointment. They are shocked at this step of hers.

She has bagged many medals at both national and international levels. She started as a swimmer and then dabbled into shooting. She had also bagged the gold medal in the 10m Air Pistol sub-youth women category. She also finished a credible fifth in the 25m pistol junior women final, where 2018 CWG champion Manu Bhaker won the title.
Her shooting coach said that it is tragic to see losing such a talented kid to suicide. This is not the first time when an international-level shooter died by suicide this year. 28-year-old Mohali shooter Namanveer Singh Brar also died by suicide after shooting himself at his Mohali residence. The incident took place in September this year.
