Radhika Apte's stellar performances
Radhika Apte rose to fame with her gutsy performances in Pad Man, Parched, Phobia and Kabali. Besides being a stellar actor she is also an outspoken feminist. She has often been seen voicing her opinion on the taboo surrounding menstruation. She played the role of a shy homemaker whose husband Akshay Kumar is on a mission to invent low-cost sanitary napkins for the welfare of women.
Besides Lust Stories, Netflix's India Original series Sacred Games and Amazon Prime Video's The Remix have also been nominated for International Emmy Awards.
Her movie Parched dealt with the tough situation faced by the women in rural areas and their struggle to break free of the restricting shackles of society.
Interestingly, two of her films Andhadhun and Padman won at the 66th National Film Awards. In a recent interview with Mid Day, she said that the film's wins are proof that the industry is on the right path of creating path-breaking movies. “It feels absolutely amazing. I feel blessed to be associated with the film. The amount of appreciation we have got from the audience and the critics is unimaginable. That is why the National Award win is gratifying.”
“I can feel the love and appreciation. Life has definitely changed; I'm getting better scripts now. 2018 was a very memorable year for me. I did Padman, Andhadhun, and Baazaar. It feels great to receive the gratitude and the success for your hard work, but I am also going to look ahead and not dwell on the past. I would rather look forward to the coming months and my upcoming releases,” Apte said.
The awards will be held on November 25 at the Hilton New York.
