Media mogul Indrani Mukerjea, who is in the jail for the murder case of her daughter Sheena Bora, has now become an approver in the INX media corruption case involving high-profile names like former finance minister P Chidambaram and his son Karti Chidambaram. A Delhi Court allowed Mukerjea to turn approver after CBI promoted her application which was earlier filed by Mukerjea. Speculations are that she has been in the know of pieces of evidence which can help the CBI in probing the case. These pieces of evidence are in the form of conversation which happened in front of Mukerjea.
Special judge Arun Bhardwaj pardoned Mukerjea, who was an accused in the case after she submitted that she voluntarily agreed to become an approver in the case, India Today reported. The court has issued a production warrant for Mukerjea. The next hearing is dated for July 11. Mukerjea is in imprisonment in the Byculla jail in Mumbai as she waits for the trail of her daughter’s murder to begin.
The case entails that Karti Chidambaram allegedly managed to secure clearance from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) for INX Media to get 305 crores in overseas funds when they only had clearance for four crores during the term of P Chidambaram being the finance minister.
