"Don't hit him," said a girl sternly to a mob while sitting behind her male friend on a scooter as they returned after grabbing dinner. This incident that happened at a public space in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, has left the country shocked with the video going viral across social media.
The video shows a group of men aggressively confronting a woman for travelling in public with a man belonging to a different faith. Despite the duo requesting them to let them be, the mob continued to harass them.
Indore Mob Attacks Woman
The video, shot in MP's Indore, shows a woman travelling on a scooty sitting behind a man as they're out to have dinner, but they're interrupted by a group of people who come close to them, stop their scooty and surround them. One of them can be seen using his cell phone to record the entire conversation of their confrontation.
The woman, who was wearing a hijab, was aggressively questioned about her whereabouts, and why she chose to go out with a man who belonged to a different religion. The woman can be heard bravely putting her point in front of everyone, "Talk to me, don't hit me, I have my parents' permission." However, the man filming the conversation questions her again, "You're wearing a hijab, you don't know the laws of our religion? Could you not order food?"
He further instructs the crowd to not hit her male friend saying their problem is with the woman's choice and they want their answers from her.
It's unclear what happens after that since the video stops but it definitely shows the audacity of a group of men who had no right to interrupt and harass two people publicly without any reason, and doing it in the name of faith is nothing but insubstantial.
The MP Police has filed an FIR against the group of men on several accounts. Rajesh Singh Raghuwanshi, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, told the media that the mob also attacked the bystanders who tried helping the duo.
