The Indo-Tibetan Border Police’s (ITBP) Manisha Maun was awarded an out of turn promotion to the rank of Head Constable for winning a gold medal at the Cologne Boxing World Cup.
Director-General of ITBP Shri Surjeet Singh Deswal awarded Manisha Maun with the new rank at the Force Headquarters on April 9.
On December 20, 2020, Manisha Maun won the gold medal at the Cologne Boxing World Cup, which was held in Germany. She was a member of the Central Boxing team of ITBP and competed in the 57 kilograms weight category. Maun was selected as a member of the Top Boxers of India team, an elite women’s team that represented India at the international boxing tournament ‘Boxam’.
Out of the 26 medals won by the ITBP in various sports competition, 17 of them were won by women. ITBP’s Wushu team won 7 medals at the Senior National Wushu Championship. The women’s team won the overall championship trophy for Wushu.
Vidyapati Chanu won the gold medal and Sanyogita Singh won the silver medal in the women’s 56 kg category. Priyanka won the gold medal in the women’s 45 kg category, and Maneka Devi won the gold medal in the 70 kg weight category. All three of the gold medals won by the ITBP team were won by women.
In the Khelo India Winter Games that took place in Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir four medals were won. Skier Prince Kumari won two gold medals and one silver medal. Prince Kumari won the gold medals for the women’s 10 km cross country and the 5 km cross country. She won the silver medal in the 1.4 km sprint race. Skier Babita won the silver medal for the women’s 10 km cross country.
Members of the ITBP Central Women’s Wrestling Team won the bronze medal. The team members include Vidya Rani, Anjali, and Jasprit.
