Indira Jaising to file Sexual Harassment complaint: Advocate Jaising is going to file a contempt of court and sexual harassment case as a semi-naked man appeared before the Karnataka High Courts sex CD case's virtual hearing.
Jaising reportedly objected to the act and later said it is highly demeaning to a woman lawyer.
The senior advocate also confirmed that the incident actually happened, on Twitter. She tweeted, "I confirm that a semi naked man was visible on the screen for a full 20 minutes despite my objection . I am making an official complaint for contempt of court and sexual harassment. It’s extremely disturbing in the middle of an argument in court." However, the identity of the man has not been revealed.
A notice has been sent to the man as he continued to be present on screen even after the objects were raised.
The incident occurred on Tuesday while the court was hearing a batch of petitions. These were questioning the legality of the SIT probe in the alleged sex CD scandal which involves former State Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi. Senior Advocate Jaising was appearing on behalf of the victim.
In the recent past, there have been a few incidences of inappropriate conduct and attire during virtual hearings at various high courts. This one now joins the list. Earlier in June this year at a virtual court hearing by Juhi Chawla on the installation of the 5G network a man started singing songs from the actor's films in the middle of it.
Jaisingh is one of the iconic names in Indian law circles. She is is a trailblazing legal pioneer and a champion of human rights and feminism. She became the first woman Additional Solicitor General of India in 2009 and through her career has represented cases of the oppressed.
