The very first group of women entrepreneurs are all set to open their own food-cluster in Nashik, after the Maharashtra Government gave them the green signal.
They had written to the government seeking their permission and support, which the government sanctioned and is now looking to identify a property for the group.
If things go as planned, this will be the very first all-women run food cluster.
Around 40 women came together for bearing the torch of this unique endeavour. They were trained by the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (MACCIA) through MITCON, in food processing in Pune and Mumbai through technical visits.
Once trained, the women underwent an interview to get shortlisted to 20. This final group brainstormed on the specifics, and made a presentation for establishing this industry. This first of its kind company was then christened as UDYOGINI CLUSTER PVT LTD.
“We have trained these women for two months. Being India’s first food cluster run by women, it will send a very positive message to the society,” said Chandrakant Dixit, secretary, MACCIA to DNA.
This cluster will encompass a diverse range of services and products, like new processed food, production, packaging, labelling, and research and development, giving employment opportunities to women with many different skill-sets- including home-makers who can now capitalize upon their knowledge of managing kitchens.
This is indeed- a very clever way to empower women in their own comfort zones.
