The Indian women’s hockey team is currently at the Carrara Stadium in Gold Coast, Australia, prepping for their biggest opportunity in the Commonwealth Games 2018.
The players already feel the pressure of expectations as India is the only second best team other than Australia that has won the Commonwealth Games gold, in Manchester in 2002.
On the other hand, Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu was chosen by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to be the flag-bearer for the opening ceremony in the upcoming Commonwealth Games. Sadly, while practising for the big games, the star player injured her ankle.

“She had hurt her ankle while training at the academy. So we did an MRI to be 100 per cent sure that everything is fine. No bone or ligament injury was found, so I am happy. We didn’t want to take any risk,” the shuttler’s father PV Ramana said, TOI reported.
Tipped as the favourite in women’s singles, Sindhu carries big responsibility on her shoulders. She has been training twice a day.
