The India women's hockey team was all charged up. It was a do-or-die situation for the team against the hosts in the Spain tour. And the women did not let us down. The five-match series against the Spanish team ended on a victorious note. The Indian women defeated the hosts 4-1 in the fifth and final match at the Consejo Superior de Deportes Hockey Stadium in Madrid. With this, the series ended on a 2-2 draw.
Monday's game was in favour of India as the players dominated the entire field. Striker Rani Rampal scored at the 33rd and 37th minute, to give her team a two-goal level
The Indian women’s team was backed by its super skipper Rampal. Also, Gurjit Kaur converted two penalty corners towards the end of the match.
Spain’s Lola Riera scored a consolation goal for the hosts.

The World No. 10 team India showed quality in the midfield. At the 58th minute, Spain, the World No. 11 team, gave India a tough counter. But the match ended in India’s favour.
India’s forward-line was guarded by skipper Rani who returned to action after being rested for the Asian Champions Trophy

The team was focusing on playing better to put behind the memories of the Hockey World League, Johannesburg. In fact, the Spain tour was a build-up for the World Cup in July in London.
