Indian women’s cricket team leads, wins ODI series against Sri Lanka

It’s one win after another for the Indian women’s cricket team. In a three-match ODI series, the Indian team was already leading in the series with 1-0 and, it won the second match also with six wickets against Sri Lanka, ultimately heading towards a clear series win yesterday.

The match began with Sri Lanka winning the toss and opting to bat. It made only 178 runs in 50 overs. Deepti Sharma of the Indian team displayed terrific bowling skills as she registered four wickets from the Sri Lankan team down in 23.

Another highlight of the game was Indian captain and ace skipper, Mithali Raj, who stayed put at 53 runs in 80 balls while driving victory home. India won at 179 runs in 43.1 overs. She earned four fours in her total score. Other who played well are Smriti Mandhana who scored 46 runs in which she hit four fours and a six and Harmanpreet Kaur made 41 run having hit six fours in a total of 61 ball.

All the four wickets were taken by Sugandika Kumari (4/39). The first was taken by Sharma in the sixth over. Srilanka reached the half century mark only in the 20^th over and struggled to score runs rapidly. The Sri Lankan team captain, Dilani Manodara, however, pushed to attain the score of 179 while being unbeaten a 43 runs and ensured finishing the game without getting all-out before 50 overs.

India won the first match in this series by 89 runs and like in this match was highly-skilled in the first match. Now as the victory has become obvious, yet the third and the final match will take place tomorrow.
