An Indian vlogger is facing backlash for her condescending behaviour during her visit to China. Jyoti Malhotra posted a vlog of her journey from Shanghai to Beijing, engaging in actions and speaking things that are biased and unlawful. While the vlog was posted a month ago on her YouTube channel, it has now gone viral as a person shared its excerpts on X with a caption that addressed Malhotra as a "High caste YouTuber."

What Was The Video About?

Malhotra made a video about her journey in China and posted it on her YouTube channel Travel with Jo. While making the video she made the locals uncomfortable. It begins with taking a metro to Shanghai bullet train station. After boarding the high-speed train, Malhotra finds she doesn't have a window seat. She then urges the person sitting on the window seat to move to the middle seat. Malhotra, with a racist tone, addressed the passenger as 'Cheeni Bhai'.

However, the person moves to the middle seat and surrenders to her request which clearly makes him perplexed.

Breaking local laws

Then, the vlog moves to the streets where she asks a lady riding a scooter to give her a lift. Even though the lady said that she had to go in the opposite direction, Malhotra didn't budge and kept saying things in Hindi that the lady couldn't decipher. Malhotra pesters the lady to the extent that she has to seek help from a police officer. Despite that, Malhotra keeps recording and speaking in Hindi

Then the vlog moves to a bus ride where Malhotra again creates a mess. She boards a bus without a ticket. Despite the driver's request to buy a ticket, Malhotra remains adamant and takes a seat. In addition to this, she breaks the local law of busses stopping at designated locations and argues and asks the driver to stop at a traffic signal.

Malhotra's vlog makes derogatory comments about the local people making it even worse by speaking in Hindi and English, languages not known by the local population. Still, the video amassed 3.7k likes.

The video goes viral condemning Malhotra

Sharing the excerpts of the video on X, the user wrote, "High caste YouTuber asks for a window seat in a commanding tone. Forcibly boards an old lady’s scooter without consent and asks her to travel in the opposite direction. Forcibly stops a moving bus, takes the bus without a ticket (twice), and asks the driver to stop at a non-designated location," condemning Malhotra's behaviour. The tweet that went viral has received around 1.6 million views. Users have reacted to the video condemning the racist behaviour of Malhotra.

Another Influencer, Another Incident

Another Indian influencer, Jaspreet Kaur, is under fire on social media for her behaviour while travelling in China. Kaur posted a video showing herself on the streets of China, where she is seen making fun of locals under the guise of comedy and disrupting their daily routines.

In the video, Kaur begins by saying, "Jaise aap log corona de sakte ho world ko, toh kya mein aapko trauma de sakti hu? (Just like how you gave the world corona, can I give you trauma in exchange?)" She continues to make offensive comments.

Kaur is then seen at a local food shop, mockingly asking the vendor about the type of animal meat they are selling. She later approaches a man and questions the quality of a bridge on a road, implying that because it is Chinese, it must be poorly constructed.

Towards the end of the video, Kaur stops two people in a marketplace and criticises their clothing, asking if they are from Sarojini Nagar, a well-known market in Delhi, because they are wearing what she calls "Gucci copy" outfits.

The video has sparked outrage on social media, with many criticising Kaur for her insensitive and offensive behaviour towards the Chinese people. Following the backlash, Kaur has removed the video from her social media accounts.

Influencer Shows Dog Meat In China

Indian influencer Garima Bakshi was making the most of her time in China when she came across dog meat being sold on streets. She made videos of the meat seller, sharing intricate information on the process of dog meat consumption in the country. Her vlog generated mixed reactions across the internet.
