An Indian-origin woman was killed after a demonstration plane crashed in New York on Sunday. Her daughter and the pilot instructor were severely injured and are undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Roma Gupta, 63, and her daughter Reeva Gupta, 33, were on a demonstration flight in a small plane. The pilot instructor has reported smoke in the cockpit just before crashing near Long Island homes in New York.
The four-seat, single-engine Piper Cherokee plane crashed and went up in flames on its way back to the Republic airport on Long Island, from where it took off.
Indian Origin Woman Killed In Plane Crash
- Roma Gupta was killed in the crash, while her daughter Reeva Gupta and the 23-year-old pilot instructor suffered third-degree burns and are hospitalised.
- The two critically injured patients were severely burned and were pulled from the burning plane, according to sources from the fire department.
- Reeva Gupta is admitted to Stony Brook Hospital with third-degree burns and is said to be in critical condition. She works as a physician’s assistant in the Mount Sinai system. Her colleagues said that she has a long and painful recovery ahead.
- The pilot instructor who was operating the plane is also in critical condition, according to the Danny Waizman Flight School, which owns the plane.
- The lawyer of Danny Waizman Flight School, Oleh Dekaylo, said that the pilot was well qualified and had all the ratings and certifications required to fly a plane.
- The plane involved in the crash had also just cleared two stringent inspections, and the recent one happened last week.
- According to lawyer Dekaylo, it was a demonstration flight, an introductory flight to see if people were interested in taking flying lessons. The Suffolk County police said that the flight path showed that the plane went over the South Shore beaches when the pilot reported smoke in the cockpit to the Republic Airport air traffic controllers.
- The National Transportation Safety Board will probe deeper to determine the cause of the crash. The federal aviation administration is also involved in investigating the reasons behind the crash.
- The federal investigators are expected to investigate the crash site for the third time on Tuesday and remove the wreckage for further analysis.
- A GoFundMe fund created to raise money for the Gupta family has raised over 60,000 dollars (49 lakh rupees).
