Indian Navy Special Forces Wing
On Sunday, December 11, the Indian Navy revealed that they decided to open the doors of the wing of the special forces to women. This will allow them to serve as commandos for the first time in any of the three defence services.
An unnamed senior official said women in the Navy could now become marine commandos (Marcos) if they choose to and meet the criteria.
Two Arrested For Gang Rape Of Specially-Abled Woman
The Rajasthan police arrested two men in connection with the alleged gang-rape of a specially-abled woman in the Barmer district.
Barmer Superintendent of Police Deepak Bhargava said that on November 24, a 20-year-old deaf and mute Dalit girl was allegedly raped when she went to graze goats.
After 17 days of the probe, the two accused Sunil Vishnoi and Bhajan Lal were arrested.
The survivor helped the police identify the accused through sign language and input she gave in writing.

Women's Representation In Parliament And Most State Legislatures Below 15%
Government data revealed that women's representation in the Parliament and most state legislatures is below 15 percent. 19 state legislatures have less than 10 percent women lawmakers.
The date revealed that the average number of female Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) is 8 percent.
The number of women Members of Parliament (MP) in Lok Sabha stands at 14.94 percent and Rajya Sabha stands at 14.05 percent.
Government School Principal Booked For Raping Student
The principal of a government school was booked for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl student in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The principal had taken nine students to a tour in Vrindavan and booked two rooms in a hotel.
Allegedly, eight students stayed in one room while the principal stayed with the 17-year-old student in the other. He allegedly mixed an intoxicating substance in the student's food and raped her.
The girl's father lodged a complaint and a case was registered against the principal, who is currently absconding.
10-Year-Old Girl Awarded For Bravery After Helping Epileptic Baby Sister
A 10-year-old girl from Gateshead, England was awarded for her bravery after she called 999, the national emergency response number and raised an alarm when her 2-year-old sister had a seizure. At the time of the incident, the girl was 9 years old.
The girl, Lucia Charlton was awarded a certificate for her bravery by the North East Ambulance Service team who helped her.
