An Indian girls' hockey team, which was in Australia for a tournament, was left stunned and embarrassed when they were denied basic facilities. A video has gone viral on Twitter, showing the girls' hockey team complaining that the Indian government did not provide them any transportation to reach the event venue in Adelaide. Due to delay in reaching the venue, they reportedly missed their games.
Kind attention @SushmaSwaraj Ji, @HCICanberra @AusHCIndia, @Ra_thore Ji - these girls went to Australia as our nation’s representative to play Hockey. Neither the authorities, who send the teams to foreign tournaments, or the sports minister sanctioned logistics and according to the girls, they always reached the grounds late for their matches.
However, later the Sports Authority of India, responding to the tweet, clarified that no approval for travel has been given to the team and coach, Pradeep Kumar, who is also featured in the video.
SAI tweeted:
No Govt. Of #India sanction/approval for travel has been accorded to the team and coach featured in the video circulating on social media. Neither has @TheHockeyIndia approved or sanctioned the tour. 1/2 @Ra_THORe @SushmaSwaraj @HCICanberra @AusHCIndia

Taking serious note of this, Hon. Sports Minister Col @Ra_THORe has ordered investigation and action into this matter, which has caused inconvenience and embarrassment to the girls and has brought disrepute to the nation. 2/2 @TheHockeyIndia @SushmaSwaraj @HCICanberra @AusHCIndia

Meanwhile, Hockey India also tweeted that the coach featured in the video was not a member of the national programme and that they haven't sent any team. It said the girls were not part of any of the Indian women national teams.
The team comprises school girls from across India playing matches against Australian school teams. Such games are facilitated by the School Games Federation Of India (SFGI). The coach later clarified the initial miscommunication and that caused some confusion. But the situation is under control now. He also went on to say that they are independently handling the games and do not seek any other help.
